Dear Fiddler,
The OOTFA invites you to participate in the 2012 State Contest March 23 and 24 in Salem. We hope that you will enter the state contest and hope that you have a great time.
We want to encourage you to pre-register by mail or email before the contests. Pre-registration is very important, since it helps get the contest off to a good start. As a pre-registered contestant, when you arrive at the contest you simply pick up a packet containing the schedule, nametags, contest rules and other information about the contest.
If you are not a current member of the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association, please enclose your membership check for $20.00 made out to OOTFA with your pre-registration. (Membership is required to participate in the contest.) Your membership cards will be in your packet at the contest. Also, if you are renewing, please send a check for $20.00 made out to OOTFA with your registration form.
Please return the pre-registrations by March 15 (earlier would be much better).
And most importantly, RETURN YOUR PRE-RESISTRATION TO Sharon Gallagher.

CONTEST INFORMATION
The OOTFA fiddle contest will be held at the Chemeketa Community College again this year on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. Your membership card for OOTFA will get members in free. We are planning on a jam Friday afternoon at 1:00. To be eligible for the contest, a contestant must have lived in Oregon for the last 6 months and be a member of the OOTFA. A contestant may join as late as the day of the contest but you are encouraged to join before the contest. If you have any questions about the contest, give Lew (503-391-5377) a call. To avoid over scheduling on Saturday we will again have the Senior Division and the Senior-Senior Division Friday afternoon with the finals that evening – along with the Twin Fiddle Division.
RV PARKING: RV parking will be available at the contest.
HANDICAP PARKING AREAS ARE ENFOURCED 24 HOURS A DAY.
Motel Information: Salem Inn is located just off I-5 — take the Market St. exit one block towards town. They can be reached by calling 1-800-305-0515. Or 1-503-588-0515. The Red Lion and Phoenix are also near by. As are other motels. Drop Lew an email for more motel information LewHolt@aol.com
The Crossland Motel is located off Silverton Road near the contest. For more information or reservations call: 1-800-EXT-STY or 1-503-363-7557. From I-5 take Exit 256 (Market St.) go east to Lancaster Ave. Turn left (north) on Lancaster to Silverton Rd (1.3miles). Turn left onto Silverton Rd. Then two blocks — just before the freeway — take a right onto Fisher Rd. Crossland will be on the left.
DIRECTIONS TO THE CONTEST:
From I-5 take Exit 256 (Market St.), turn east on Market (away from down town) Go to Lancaster Ave. turn left (north) on Lancaster to Silverton Rd. (1.3 miles) Turn right on Silverton Rd. Go .5 mile, turn left at the first traffic light (45th) and go .6 mile. Building 6 – auditorium – is to the left a block off 45th. Watch for signs.
