Lane County Fair. Here in District 6, we are having a busy summer. Coming up, in August, is the Lane County Fair, which will feature an all day open acoustic jam and a one hour gig at the end of the day, part of a larger program involving other groups. We cordially members from other districts to participate in either, or both, programs. See the District 6 report for more information.
William Greene writes: “So many of you have offered kind words of support and prayers throughout my period of hospitalization and treatment for lymphoma. While it has not been possible to respond to all of you individually, please know how deeply your thoughts were felt and so very much appreciated. I am on the road to recovery and Kathy and I look forward to making music with you again soon.
With love and aloha,
William Greene”

From the Editor Emeritus: Lew August 1, 2008
I had an interesting experience recently. When a group of us were playing last month in Aurora, a man walked up to me and said, “Here is a guitar string winder that Doris Barkley thought you might enjoy having.” He told me he was Doris’ son. Of course I was pleased to get it and very pleased that Doris would think of me. Tom made the string winder - very well made out of nice wood. Tragically years ago when he was unhooking their trailer, it crushed him between the trailer and the pick up. He did not survive the accident. Tom was a great mandolin player. He enjoyed visiting and sharing his music with others. Doris later moved to California. I am pleased to have known Tom.
