Greetings From Your President: August 1, 2008

What a great turn-out we had a Weiser! Thanks to everyone who participated and
a special thanks to Irene Ruddock for great organization of all of the
activities. Congratulations to all of our Oregon Winners! In the Grand
Champion Division – Alex Hargreaves – 4th place. In the Senior-Senior Division
– Champion – Gayle Clarity, 4th Place – Les Tucker, 5th Place – Judy McGarvey.
In the Junior-Junior Division - Kiarra Saito-Beckman – 3rd Place, Emily Campagna
– 5th Place. In the Small Fry Division - Matthew McCravey – 4th Place, Isaaiah
Ruby Jean Baltzell – 5th Place. We are proud of all of you. We even took 2nd
place prize in the parade!

At our business meeting it was decided that we need to change the mileage
reimbursement to reflect the increase in gasoline costs. The board has
recommended that we reimburse according to the then current US government rate
for Business Mileage reimbursement as published by the IRS. This way the rate
will be automatically adjusted as the cost of gasoline goes up or down. The
current mileage rate as of July 1, 2008 is 58.5 cents per mile. I ask you to
support this. Here is the change that you will be asked to vote on at the
semi-annual meeting in Merrill at 10:30 a.m. on September 13:

Change the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association By-laws as follows:

Replace Article V Section 2, Paragraph g. to read”
“g. State and District Officers, because they are expected to attend all State
Meetings will be reimbursed for mileage at the then current US Government rate
for Business Mileage reimbursement as published by the Internal Revenue Service.

Summer has finally arrived and all Districts are busy with campouts, fairs and
other playing opportunities.    I hope you have the chance to participate in
some of them.
